Reserve Slots
Once you have your reserve slot you can simply connect to the server at any time with the following command in the console:
connect forumocalypse.nuclearfallout.net
For help on enabling the console in TF2 read the following article:
Valve Developer Community: Developer Console
To get a reserve slot send an e-mail to:
reserve[at]forumocalypseweb.site.nfoservers.com
Subject: YOUR FORUMOPOLIS USER NAME
Content: YOUR STEAM ID, E.G. STEAM_0:0:1234567890 (it can be long or short, but is usually not much longer than this example)
You can get your steamid by typing in "status" into the console while connected to a server or use the following web app to get it for you. The console method is preferred though (as I use the web app to double check).
Enter my SteamID
Rules about reserve slots:
- Regular FO members always get a slot.
- If we feel you are regular enough on the server and NOT from FO we can give you a slot.
- If we don't know who you are from FO or you are an unknown user you will not get added, if you're an FO and don't post much please add a link to your FO profile page in the e-mail.
- If you're new and join FO just for the reserve slot we will not add you.
- FO users, we can add your friends, please don't abuse this though.
If you get told your reserve slot is NOT active when using the /rescheck command in the server when you know you have had a reply from us saying it's active please contact us directly with your steamid and steam profile url and we'll sort it out. Please note that it's normal during busy times that the server will be full since it will be full of reserve slot users.
Files
The server will automatically download any custom maps needed to play when you connect to a new map for the first time. Alternatively, if you'd like to be able to play straight away or have a slow connection download the following content and save to:
Steam\SteamApps\YOUR USER NAME\team fortress 2\tf\maps - where "Steam" is the full path to steam, default is "C:\Program Files\Steam"
You can safely delete the archives once you have extracted them.
Problems
Help, things randomly disappear or I get strange graphical problems and have to restart the game, can I fix this?
Pretty common problem in source games, all you need to do is type this into the console:
record fix
stop
That'll sort it out without you needing to restart the game.
My mic won't work!
Probably need to set:
voice_forcemicrecord 0
Now set your microphone again in windows and when you start up TF2, it'll use what you picked vs it picking it.
Can I team talk via voice when all talk is on?
Yes, if server all talk is ever on but you wish to continue using voicechat simply set up this bind:
alias +teamonly "+teamtalk;+voicerecord"
alias -teamonly "-teamtalk;-voicerecord"
bind BUTTON +teamonly
Where "BUTTON" is the button you want it to use, e.g. f, MOUSE4, g, etc.
It is highly recommended you put this in your autoexec.cfg in:
Steam\SteamApps\YOUR USER NAME\team fortress 2\tf\cfg
If the file does not exist create a new text file with the same name and edit it so. You will need to adjust your folder options to change the .txt extension to .cfg
